Terms of Service
Last updated September 12, 2026
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Splitee. By using the Splitee app, or by opening and using a Splitee group link, you accept them. If you don’t agree with them, don’t use Splitee. Splitee isn’t for children under 13.
What Splitee is, and is not
Splitee is a shared ledger: it records the expenses and settlements your group types in and does the math on who owes whom. It is not a bank, a wallet, or a payment service. It never holds or moves money, never touches card or bank details, and paying each other back always happens outside Splitee, between you.
Splitee is not a party to any debt between group members. The balances it shows are calculations, not legal determinations: the ledger is only as accurate as what its members record in it, we don’t verify entries, and a Splitee balance is not by itself proof that anyone owes anyone anything. If people in a group disagree about an expense, that disagreement is between them.
Check the numbers before you pay or take any other action. Splitee performs calculations from the information supplied to it, but software can have bugs and a balance can be wrong: a mistyped amount, a receipt read incorrectly, a conversion at the rate you chose, a rounding difference, third-party data, or an error in the service. The history shown in a group may also be incomplete, unavailable, changed, or lost. You are responsible for independently reviewing the information and agreeing any amount with the other person before money changes hands. A payment, reimbursement, tax filing, accounting decision, or other action you take in reliance on Splitee is your decision and risk.
Accounts and guests
You never need to give us a phone number. An account takes one email address, or a Sign in with Apple or Google identity, and that is only if you want one: an account is what lets you start groups and keep your ledger across devices. You can also take part as a guest, with no account at all. Someone sends you a group link, you open it in your browser, and you can read the ledger, add expenses, and record payments as the person the link names. A guest who later wants to be reached about the group can confirm an email there; that is optional too.
Your entries, and other people’s details
You’re responsible for what you put in: expense descriptions, amounts, and names. When you add someone else to a group, or save their phone number or email to invite them, you confirm you actually know them and are allowed to share those details and that your use of Splitee, including any messages you send, complies with applicable law. Invites you send go out from your own messaging apps, in your name. Do not upload content you do not have the right to use or share.
Group links
A group link works for whoever holds it: anyone who has the link can see that group’s ledger, and a personal link lets its holder act as the person it names. Treat links like keys: share them only with the person they’re meant for. Links expire on their own after 7 days and may be turned off through the app. Do not put confidential, sensitive, or irreplaceable information in a group that you would not want an unintended link holder to see. Turning off a link cannot undo information that was already viewed, copied, exported, or shared.
Splitee Plus
Splitee Plus is a monthly subscription bought through Apple. The price is shown before you buy, and after any free period it renews every month on its own until you cancel. You can cancel any time in your Apple subscription settings; cancelling takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. Billing and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s own terms.
Free accounts include everything needed to split expenses, within usage limits such as how many groups you can organize, how many people fit in one, and how often you can send reminders. The current limits, and what Plus raises them to, are always shown in the app before anything asks you to pay.
What Plus includes, and what it costs, can change as the product evolves. Apple displays the applicable price and any renewal terms before purchase and handles price-change notices and billing under its own rules. If you do not accept a change, cancel through the applicable app store before your next renewal.
Fair use
Don’t use Splitee to break the law, to harass people, to record debts that don’t exist, to claim a guest identity that isn’t yours, or to probe or overload the service. Do not use it for professional debt collection, credit reporting, financial services, high-risk or regulated decisions, or any purpose for which an error could cause personal injury, significant financial loss, or legal liability. We may investigate, remove content, restrict access to, suspend, or close accounts and groups that we reasonably believe breach these terms, create risk, or harm others.
The service, as it is
Splitee is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise that it will be secure, uninterrupted, timely, available, accurate, complete, or error-free. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, including which features are free and which are part of Plus. You can export your available data from the app while that feature and your access remain available.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Splitee and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers are not liable for any loss that comes from using, being unable to use, or relying on the service. That includes a balance, split, total, conversion, or report that turns out to be wrong; a receipt that was read incorrectly; a reminder that was sent late, twice, or not at all; an entry that was lost, changed, or duplicated; a group link that was shared further than you meant; and anything that happens in the payment app you settle up in, which is not ours. You are responsible for checking what Splitee shows before you act on it, for keeping your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, and for how you use the service, and you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless those parties from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from your content, your links, your dealings with others, or your breach of these terms or applicable law. This indemnity does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by Splitee’s intentional misconduct or where law does not permit it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Splitee will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages; lost profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunity; or disputes between group members or with third parties, even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the service or these terms is capped at the greater of US $50 or the amount you paid directly to Splitee for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Your sole and exclusive remedy for dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
Ending things, and changes
You can stop using Splitee and request deletion of your account at any time. We may update these terms as the product evolves; the date above identifies the current version. Material changes apply after reasonable notice where required by law; otherwise, they apply when posted. Continuing to use Splitee after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, without displacing consumer protections, privacy rights, or other mandatory laws that apply where you live or use the service. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms or the service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the service and do not create any partnership, agency, fiduciary, employment, or joint venture relationship. Questions or legal notices go to support@splitee.io.
